How Solar Works

Here you will find technical answers and information about solar photovoltaic (pv) systems. If you have additional questions, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page or contact us today.

A Step-By-Step Guide

How Solar Photovoltaic Actually Work

Step 1

Solar panels collect the energy rays from the sun and convert those rays into DC electricity.

Step 2

The solar panels send the DC electricity to an inverter.  The inverter then converts the electricity into AC current for household consumption.

Step 3

At this point, the electricity is sent to the house’s service panel to be distributed into the household’s electrical system.  In the event that the solar system does not produce enough electricity for the household, additional power will be consumed from the grid.

Step 4

If the solar system is able to create more electricity than the household needs. The extra energy will be sent back to the grid.  In some cases we can monitor the system and you are able to receive credits on your electricity bill.
